The only impossible journey is the one you never begin – Tony Robbins. Do you ever feel like you are settling? Or that you are not being challenged? Or do you look back at your life and wish you had tried something completely different? There have been things in my life where I have let my fear hold me back. This isn't a bad thing, because I was learning about myself. I wasn't embracing life. I would let the fear of change consume me. I am not saying that this had to be a move or marriage or that I had to quit my job. It is just that life is full of moments where you have to decide what you are going to do next. When you decide to take action and start living, no matter how scary it seems, you will be better off for it! But in order to grow in life, you have to face your fears. If you don't challenge yourself, then you will never know what you are capable of. This quote by Tony Robbins couldn't be more true. The only way you will ever find out what you are capable of is to take risks. This might not mean traveling to the depths of the Amazon jungle, but it could mean totally revamping your business location or hours or trying a new business idea that will shift your income stream in the right direction. Oftentimes, we get so focused on what is right in front of us, that we forget about the bigger picture. We are so caught up in the minutia of everyday life that sometimes we miss out on living completely. I have had more than one conversation with people who are afraid to enroll in college because they are afraid they will fail at something new. A big purpose of our time on this Earth is to see what life outside of our day-to-day existence is like.
You may have never wondered what your life would be like if you had decided to go into the Peace Corps instead of being a nurse. When I was younger, anytime I would have a conversation with my mom about moving away to go to college she would always say, You will never know if you don't try. This statement has stuck with me for most of my life. She later told me that this is something her mother always says. My father has said the same thing to my sister when she tells him that she needs to get out into the world and find herself. It seems that wisdom is abundant in my family. And it is not just within myself that I have witnessed this type of language being used, but also in others around me. I'm a big believer in asking for things in life. It may take a little bit of practice to be able to have the right frame of mind when doing so, but being able to ask doesn't always have to be for something you need. Asking for what you want can also apply to your job, your relationships, and your personal life. It can really open the door to creating a much better situation in your life.
